Remakes and Reboots, Why?

We all know why movies are remade, or why franchises are rebooted. If you don't, then you are an idiot. The answer is obviously that dolla dolla bill, yo! Every Hollywood studio exec is interested in one thing. They wanna make bank, bro. They wanna drive Range Rovers. You might think that this is despicable, but what the fuck else is a Hollywood suit supposed to want? I mean, its the movie business. If you think that it's about anything other than making money then get real.

Some might despair over this fact, but not I. Who gives a shit if these guys want money? Heck, we all want money. The remake movies because it's a safe bet. They aren't gambling all that much. Just look at Disney. They took a gamble by making John Carter. That movie bombed, and they lost money. Needless to say Mickey was not happy.

Reboots are good. They rebooted Batman, didn't they? Before Batman Begins we had Batman and Robin. Do I need to compare and contrast those two movies? Probably not, but I will anyway. Begins brought us badass ninja Batman, B & R gave us Bat-nipples. That shit needed to be rebooted. Also, if the reboot isn't very good, you can always do it again in a few years.

Remakes are another story. Some of them are a bit shit and pointless like Total Recall. The remake wasn't a complete shitfest, but I didn't want to punch every actor in it. That is a good sign. Other remakes are of things I haven't seen the original of. I think that is the target audience that the studios want to see the film (along with fans of the original who want to hate it, but will pay to see it anyway). An example of this is Fright Night, a very enjoyable, campy horror film. Holy shit! Colin Farrell is in Fright Night and Total Recall. What a remake whore!

Anyway, away from those eyebrows and back to the point. Reboots and remakes might not be the most creative thing in the world, but they pun new, more relevant spins on stories we already know are good so I see no problem with them,

So I say to you, remakes and reboots are Not That Shit.
